This bag represents the knowledge I have gained over the last few years of my sewing career.
There are many things about this bag that might not be apparent at first glance, but a closer look will reveal the thought I put into making a long lasting, durable, lightweight, stylish, functional, and safety-minded backpack. I spend countless hours researching the highest quality materials and even travel to make sure they are up to my standards. I try at all costs to get materials that are Made in the USA, like the Cordura® and 3M® Scotchlite® reflective tape featured on this bag.
Everything about this bag is cut and handmade by one person, me, and one machine. Take a closer look below at the features of this bag:
As stated above, everything about this bag is handmade. Ergonomic straps and a hand-sewn Royal HC “R” is sewn into the closed-cell foam backpad.
Shoulder straps are made of 1000D Cordura® front and back, reinforced with 1-3/4″ 6000lb. seat belt webbing, and edges finished with 100% nylon grosgrain binding.
Not only is the shape of the should strap important, but a secure, snug, and strong connection to the bag is essential. I go to great lengths to make sure that these shoulder straps are sewn down a minimum of 3 passes to ensure it will never come undone. All edges of my work will properly have the fabric sandwiched all the way inside the binding, leaving no loose edges that are prone to coming apart.
To my knowledge, this is the only bag out there that utilizes 1-3/4″ seat belt webbing through the entire shoulder strap construction to the bottom connection of the bag. This not only looks and feels sturdier, it allows maximum durability and integrity.
The nicest feature of this bag has to be the 7075 CNC aluminum AustriAlpin® triglides for the shoulder straps of this bag. They are rated up to 2000lbs. Nice and very lightweight. This bag features NO PLASTIC HARDWARE whatsoever.
When you need to grab your bag and go, the tubular nylon bungee handle will make it as comfortable as can be. it scrunches up neatly against the bag and stretches out when pulled on. This means that your arms are not taking the entire shock of whatever weight you have filled the bag up with when picking it up.
Clean construction is used throughout this bag. You will not find any skipped stitches or unfinished looking parts of this bag.
This bag is simple. 2 main pockets for those who don’t like to fumble with numerous small compartments. The rear pocket of this bag is actually expandable. It folds down neatly when there is no cargo inside, and stretches open when you need to stuff it to its capacity. This also helps reduce whatever you are carrying in the rear from pushing against your back and making life less comfortable.
This bag is a Day and Night pack, so the rear is finished with 3M® Scotchlite® reflective tape, which is the most reflective tape on the market today. The “R” is hand cut by myself using scissors and sewn in by hand with my sewing machine.
This bag is double padded. This means that the pad that touches your back and the one that is sewn the the rear pocket both have 1/4″ closed cell foam sandwiched in between the 1000D Cordura®.
I use only Cordura® for the entire construction of this bag. A lot of companies that make bags use vinyl on the inside of bags for a durable and chemical resistant lining. I have found that this vinyl is in fact cheaper and does not last as long as the life span of Cordura®. That is why this bag is made completely of Cordura®. Not only is this more expensive to produce, it is sure to last longer than any other bag using vinyl for the inside or out.
Last but not least, this bag features weatherproof zippers for a water tight construction. Whatever you put in this bag WILL stay dry.
